  • This is what it cost me to convert a Series IIA.
As you can see it wasn't  a cheap conversion though it is cheaper and less complex than a Nissan diesel coupled with a five speed Nissan gearbox, a conversion also available from Marks 4WD Adaptors.

  • The Nissan diesel and gearbox is my idea of a desirable conversion. The Nissan 'box has an overdrive fifth gear, thereby eliminating the need for a change in transfer case gearing or diff ratios. However it would be  more costly than this if you look into the cost of the core motor, having it rebuilt and sourcing the converted 'box from Marks. I think that fitting a "good" un-reconditioned motor is asking for future trouble. Why not do it properly to start with?

  • If you start with a Series III with good brakes, the brake upgrade expenses would be limited to necessary repairs.

  • I have left out the cost of my gearbox rebuild, necessary though it was, as other prospective convertors may have a usable box.

  • It all depends on the vehicle you are converting and how good it is to start with.
